Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapeutic modality that uses adaptive information or internal resources to address a wide variety of concerns. EMDR can be used to address trauma, along with many other concerns, including anxiety, phobias, depression, stressors, addictions, compulsive behaviors, attachment, and grief/loss. The overall goal of EMDR therapy is to reduce the level of distress associated with a negative experience/memory. EMDR works best for those who often feel "stuck" or feel like they have tried everything else and are open to trying a different approach to healing, as EMDR often results in tangible progress in a shorter amount of time than traditional talk therapy.

In a typical EMDR session, I will ask specific questions related to the experience or memory you want to address, and then we use bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, headphones, etc.) while you think about the distressing experience/memory. We check in periodically throughout the session, but generally there is minimal talking involved in an EMDR session. The bilateral stimulation helps distract from the distress and provides a sense of grounding in the present moment, which ultimately reduces or eliminates the overall level of distress associated with that experience.
I provide EMDR therapy in-person and via telehealth in 60 minute sessions to ages 14+. I adapt the EMDR process to fit your unique needs rather than a "one-size-fits-all" approach. I'm trained in multiple adaptations to EMDR, including Flash/4 Blinks and EMDR 2.0, and I often incorporate parts work and internal resourcing.
As an EMDRIA Consultant-In-Training (CIT), I offer affordable consultation to EMDR clinicians in the U.S. who have completed the basic training, are working towards EMDR certification status, and/or who are interested in general EMDR consultation. If you are an EMDR clinician seeking consultation, please contact me to see if we would be a good fit!
